Meet Adam – Backyard Pit Rub Ambassador

Adam has been part of the Backyard Pit Rub family since the very beginning and shares many of the same values that are at the heart of our brand—family, great food, and bringing people together around the barbecue.

Hi, I’m Adam, a passionate outdoor cook, barbecue enthusiast, and proud father of three. My journey with food has taken me through many different chapters, from running a successful multi-cuisine street food business to spending my days home educating my children and sharing my love of great food and outdoor living.

Food has always been at the heart of what I do. For many years, I owned and operated a multi-cuisine street food company, serving a wide variety of dishes and flavours to customers across the region. Eventually, I made the decision to sell the business so I could focus on what mattered most to me—raising and educating my three children. These days, you’ll most often find me outdoors with a barbecue, smoker, or fire pit. I have a particular love for cooking in the stunning surroundings of the Scottish Highlands, where good food, fresh air, and incredible scenery come together perfectly.

My BBQ Favourites Go-To BBQ Cook: Whole Chicken If there’s one cook I never get tired of, it’s a whole chicken. It’s versatile, packed with flavour, and always a crowd-pleaser. Whether cooked low and slow or roasted over live fire, it remains my favourite thing to put on the barbecue.

Favourite Backyard Rub: Backyard Chicken Down Under When it comes to seasoning poultry, my go-to rub is Backyard Chicken Down Under. It delivers fantastic flavour and consistently produces great results, making it a staple in my outdoor cooking kit.

What BBQ Means to Me For me, barbecue is about much more than food. It’s about bringing people together, creating memories, and enjoying the simple pleasures of cooking outdoors. Whether I’m experimenting with new techniques, perfecting old favourites, or sharing a meal with family and friends, I believe great barbecue starts with quality ingredients, patience, and a genuine passion for the craft.

I look forward to sharing recipes, tips, experiences, and plenty of outdoor cooking adventures with you along the way.

Meet Tom –

Backyard Pit Rub Ambassador

Hailing from the beautiful island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands, Tom is a family man with a serious passion for BBQ and smoked meats. Working in finance by day and tending the smoker by night (and often overnight!), he's always looking for the next great cook.

His go-to favourite is a rack of low-and-slow ribs seasoned with Backyard Pit Rub's Pork Rib Rub. The combination of smoky, sweet, and spicy flavours makes it a guaranteed crowd-pleaser every time. Whether he's cooking on a pellet grill or firing up the barrel smoker, he loves the incredible flavour this rub brings to every cook.

Guernsey may be a small island, but it's known for its strong sense of community, stunning coastline, and beautiful beaches. Located in the English Channel between England and north-western France, it's also home to a growing BBQ scene that continues to bring people together through great food and outdoor cooking.

For Tom, barbecue is more than a hobby—it's a way to create memories, share great food with family and friends, and be part of a community that shares a passion for authentic, flavourful cooking. 🔥🥩🍖

Meet Ryan Lee– Backyard Pit Rub Ambassador

A passionate BBQ enthusiast, traveller, and music lover, Ryan-Lee is always on the hunt for great food, great company, and unforgettable experiences. When he's not firing up the grill, you'll likely find him planning his next adventure, discovering new places to eat and drink, or enjoying live music at one of the many festivals he attends throughout the year.

When it comes to barbecue, beef is king. His dream BBQ tray would feature perfectly smoked brisket, burnt ends, or a massive beef rib, paired with Pit Beans and slaw. And if that's not on the menu, a properly executed smash burger is always a winner.

Some of his favourite BBQ destinations include SMOKESTAK in London and The Salt Lick BBQ in Texas—two iconic spots that have helped fuel his love for authentic barbecue.

Travel is another huge passion. He's spent considerable time exploring the United States, road-tripping from Florida all the way to Los Angeles while sampling some of the country's best BBQ along the way. One of his most memorable adventures was getting married in Las Vegas. He's also visited Japan several times and highly recommends it for its incredible food, culture, and hospitality. With 23 countries visited so far, he's always looking forward to adding another stamp to his passport.

At home, his pride and joy is a purpose-built, covered BBQ area where he spends countless hours cooking, relaxing with a cold beer, and listening to music. His current line-up includes two impressive kamado cookers: the Louisiana Grills 24 and The Bastard XL, which handle the majority of his cooks.

When he's not cooking or traveling, you'll find him at music festivals. Recent and upcoming events include When We Were Young Festival, Slam Dunk Festival, and Download Festival—with many more already on the calendar.

For Ryan-Lee, barbecue is more than cooking—it's about bringing people together, creating memories, and enjoying life's best moments with great food, great music, and great company. 🔥🍖🍔🎵🌍
